All of the files I have are by default not MP4 but rather. One question I still have is on the export/batch export piece you mentioned. Those sound sufficient for what I'm trying to do (aka, nothing complicated). I will look into the Davinci Resolve and Shortcut softwares.

At $30/month you'd be better off buying a new system after a year, but if you need something NOW, or you don't want the extra weight that a Creator or Gaming laptop would likely add, then it is an option. One other option to consider (if you want to avoid buying a new system) would be Shadow PC - basically you're connecting to a High-end gaming system over the internet. If you really are just arranging clips and music "Shotcut" is also worth looking at for simple edits. It is designed to be multi-platform and so may work better on your equipment. In terms of free editing software, one of the best (with upgrades it's used by major studios) is Davinci Resolve. But given the laptop you have I'm not sure you're going to get a major improvement on your workflow with Adobe Premiere or After Effects. If you want to work on the PC, then yes, you're going to want to do an export or a batch export to the default MP4 file, and then pull that into other software. iPhone app is optimized for the chip it has (and the more recent iPhone have a great mobile GPU). So that is probably not the world's greatest laptop to be using since it is an i5u (so temp and battery are prioritized over speed), and does not have a dedicated GPU.
